Staff
Company Manager
Seeking a highly organized multi tasker, who has great people skills and a familiarity with professional theater, how it runs, and the needs of actors and our creative staff. This individual serves as hospitality chairman/woman overseeing the facilities, in charge of maintenance crew and maid service, seeing that the housing needs are met on campus. For this position, small "handyman" skills are a plus for small "fix-it" type projects, as large projects are hired out to contractors as they arise. This individual is the organizer and facilitator of regularly scheduled parties and functions, transportation, ticket requests, and general well being of the cast and crew. This individual and the company manager's assistant, will split the time that requires one or the other to be on call morning and night, as many people live on the property on a regular basis. The theater schedule will normally have them in the office by ten and sometimes, up late at night after "curtain" time. This individual is the primary liaison between the Producer and the Company. Press Representative
Seeking an energetic individual well versed in theater to help promote our Summer Season. This person should have excellent written and verbal skills. Position will entail writing press releases and PLAYBILL articles that encompass different aspects of the productions and the producing end of the theater. This individual will be the point person with our Newspaper, Radio and Television contacts in regards to writing up and reviewing our season shows. This position is part time. Associate Casting/Artistic Director
Seeking talented and driven individual to provide support and skills to Artistic Director, Robin Joy Allan in all creative endeavors at Gateway. This position provides excellent experience for a future in casting as well as Arts Management. As Casting Associate, you will assist in the preparation and execution of professional auditions in NYC and Long Island throughout the summer (working directly with agents and actors to schedule meetings, provide sides, etc.). You will also assist with Artistic Director responsibilities: liaison with creative staff and management on the execution and production of all shows, sets and costumes, direction and music. You will assist on the design and execution of all advertising matter and published materials including posters, brochures, ads and playbill. This individual will also provide vital management support to the Gateway Acting School. Must possess an easy flexible attitude and an ability to multi task at an extraordinary rate. Someone with experience in casting or working in a production office is eagerly sought. Computer skills and a good memory are absolutely imperative. Writing skills are also a great asset for this position. Housing in Bellport may be provided if you are not local. Ticket Services Representatives
Seeking courteous and professional customer service oriented individuals to work as seasonal part-time box office representatives. Work in a fun and flexible environment dealing directly with the public. Must possess strong customer service skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional phone manner. Experience with computers and the arts preferred. Acting School
ACTING TEACHER
With sessions running all year long, we are always updating our files with the resumes of interesting individuals skilled in theater, with an affinity for conveying inspiration to our young students. Candidates should hold degrees in Theater and have experience working with kids of all ages in a theater/acting related setting. A strong passion for teaching kids is crucial, as is a positive attitude, plenty of energy, and a desire to contribute to a unique learning environment unlike any other acting program in the area. The ideal candidate will be able to provide students with a constructive classroom atmosphere, where they will feel inspired to create and learn. This individual should have an innovative approach to teaching, drawing from various methods so students can be introduced to a variety of techniques. Because no two classes are ever the same, this person should be flexible enough to modify their approach depending on the energy in the classroom. We want our students to be challenged and to feel that their experience has provided them with a valuable skill set. Our teachers must be well organized and be willing to do some work outside of class time in order to come to each class prepared. Housing for this position is NOT provided.
